As a general rule, when you are hanging a single piece of art on an open wall, style the art so that the center of the painting is 58 to 60 inches from the floor. If you follow this rule, it places the art roughly at the height of your vision.
Essential Steps:
- Measure and lightly mark 58 – 60 inches on your wall, measuring up from your floor.
- Measure artwork height and divide by 2 (this gives you the center point of the painting).
- From the back of the art, measure the top of your frame to the tightened wire. This should be a small amount, depending on your frame or canvas.
- Subtract that “tight wire” amount from the number you determined in step 2. This will tell you how far above 58-60 inches your hook should go.
- Lightly mark the wall just above 58-60 inches with the “to the hook” amount you figured out in step 4.
- Hang your Emi & Co. Art with confidence!
An example:
1. Your art is 20″ tall
2. Middle is at 10″ (this mid-point should rest at 58-60 inches from the floor)
3. Wire comes to 2″ below the top
4. 10″ – 2″ = 8″
5. Lightly mark 8″ above 58-60 inches (your first mark) on the wall
6. Hang your art!
Note: If you are styling art over a console table, sofa, or mantle, hang the painting a few inches above the surface of the object associated with the art.
